Clippers Developmental Program

The goal of our developmental team program is to teach players the skills and game knowledge needed to advance to the next level of play.  The Charlotte area is one of the top rated youth baseball markets in the country. Many of the high school programs in the area are very strong, and the odds of making these teams are very tough. The Clippers program is designed to train players on the physical aspects of the game as well as what it takes to make a top high school baseball program.

We fielded our first team for the Fall 2009 season, in the 11U age division. We introduced our system to a group of players from various backgrounds, and after a few weeks of work the players responded very well. The team won two Nations Baseball tournaments, and made a lot of progress. For the Spring 2010 season we will add teams at the 9U and 14U age divisions. Click here for a link to Tryout Schedules.

Program highlights include:

-         Each player will receive an individual skills assessment, identifying strengths as well as areas for improvement.

-         Each player will have a personal development plan to enable him to develop the skills and knowledge needed to advance to the next level.

-         We will meet with each player and his parents to review the assessment and developmental plan, and then meet as needed to assess progress and any other steps needed to achieve the stated goals.

-         Teams will practice twice per week, once indoors and once outdoors.

-         Teams will play Nations Baseball and/or USSSA tournaments, primarily in the local Charlotte area.

The program will be managed by Al Dahlgren, President of HQ4Baseball. Coach Dahlgren has over 18 years experience coaching youth baseball, managing leagues and travel teams, and developing training programs that have helped players prepare for the next level of competition. The program facilitator and lead coach is Spencer Stecher. Coach Stecher is currently the head JV coach and assistant varsity coach at Ardrey Kell High School, the 2009 4A High School State Champion, and 2008 4A State Runner Up. He has 15 years experience coaching players from the youth to the collegiate level, and has experience running travel teams.
